Solid granite slabs can be quite expensive, but it’s an investment in your kitchen that will pay off in durability and increased home value.

If you opt for kitchen granite countertops from a solid slab, you’ll have to have the granite installed by a professional. The installer will remove your old countertop surface, and drop in the specially cut granite piece.

The less expensive and easy to install option is a granite laminate. In this case, the granite is ground into fine particles, and mixed with an acrylic polymer. This creates a look that is like granite, but is light weight. In some cases, this countertop can be installed directly over you old countertops.
